I'm a bit distraught right now. Today after Joe and I got unpacked, our neighbor came home from work.
We went over to say hi, and thanks for mowing the lawn for us, and ... he had some interesting news for us.
Housing now has apparently decided to make us pay rent, starting the 7th of this month. Looks like we would have to sign a long-term lease making us give over all of the BAH, (and more, if they decide to move us into one of the newer houses) plus we'd have to pay for water, electricity, and apparently lawn service too. Not that we've ever had lawn service.
Theres also a 98% chance that they're going to demolish our house, too, just to top it off.
So, if we don't sign this new lease. then they're going to boot us out of housing in about a week.
HEAVEN FORBID THAT HOUSING TELL US THIS. apparently there was a mandatory briefing on it thismorning, and yesterday. Not that we were home. And not that they're open or have a place we could call on the weekend.
this sucks.
AGHHHH I know I've complained about housing before, but I don't want it to magically disappear on us either :( I mean, they had us sign a 1 year contract to live on base, but I think it's getting voided out..
we even had gone to home depot today and bought a carpet and paint & supplies for our bedroom.
So, I've been searching the housing market for something that we can afford to pay off in the next 2 years. I've narrowed down a couple nice places north of base.
I really don't want to live in yuba or marysville. did that before. NEVER again... :( scary scary scary
*The place we live in right now is a craptacular 600 sq. foot duplex-thing with a carport.two very small bedrooms, (we have a queen sized bed squashed against the walls, and can barely fit a small dresser.) 1 ever-moldy smelling bath, backyard is about 100 yds out, and when it rains, we pretty much have a giant moat around the house, and the foundation floods constantly.. I really don't want to pay anymore than the
Ok, 'nuff about this place..
One's in Penn Valley.. it's a 1344 sq. foot 2 bed 2 bath, estate sale, no photos yet though..
looks like a pretty cramped neighborhood via google satellite, but hey, that's a good sized house. I hope we'll be able to see it. description says it needs some work, but I don't really mind so long as it's not completley falling apart. We'll just have to see how much is "some".
Another is a Grass Valley (which is a really nice lil' town) 800 sq. feet, big, lush, fenced backyard, and the house is set back from the road and somewhat secluded, which I like. I don't like to hear what my neigbors are talking about when sitting in my closed living room.. really annoying.
Not exactly looking for a dream house, that's for sure. *laughs* we certainly plan on getting out of here as soon as joe's done with his term in the airforce. We're pretty good at moving though ^^ Took us about 2 days to move from the old apartment onto base. We still had a few weeks left on our lease then though, so we would go over every once in awhile to dust and such.
and ewww I just scorched a pot of liquid cinnamon incense stuff. now it smells disgusting in here, and is beginning to bring on a massive headache.
*ahem*
anyway, about the trip...
Oregon was nice, it was fun to see everybody.. I'm very glad to not be sleeping on a couch anymore.. good to sleep on a mattress.. ^^ and have my own computer again. Ahh, and peace. What a stressful environment.
The first day we spent there, I caught something from a portland bus and got really sick, thus making the whole house sick too. I'm almost over it, but still have a little cough. It just hit joe the day before we left, but hopefully he won't stay sick too long.
Annnd yesterday I met Carolyn, which was absolutely lovely :D
I'm bummed that Joe and I still felt crappy, though. Joe could hardly talk, and kept squeeking awkwardly whenever he tried.
Got to meet the whole furry gang, too. I really adore Digger. He's such a clown!
I really am looking forward to getting a doggy.. Don't know when, but just the prospect of having one makes me happy..
I'm going to try emailing some now. See if we can go look at houses... wish me luck!
OH YEA! And today's our 1st official married anniversary! Yeay for me and the hubby!

Happy Anniversary...yesterday!!! Sorry to hear about the housing mess! And I soooo don't blame you about not wanting to live in Marysville or Yuba City...I spent 10 miserable years in Oroville from third grade through high school. ACH!!! What's scary is M'ville and Yuba were better to us than Boroville! ;P Good luck finding a good place until you get to escape CA all together!
And we know you have good taste if you love the darling Digger! Hope you can join the dog family soon!
Happy belated anniversary Kat! Bummer that you got sick (and in turn got the house sick too!), but I'm glad to hear you're on the mend... Grass Valley is a cute area... but are you looking to BUY a house or rent?
Carolyn is a great lady... and her husband Tom is terrific too (a great cook too!). The C-Myste doggie clan are good fun. You probably met Sedona's momma, Phoebe while you were there... beautiful tan pointed girl... Glad you were able to get there and meet them! Digger does get under your skin and worms his way into your heart, huh?! ;-) Glad you're home safe and sound!!
Thanks guys :)
Pheobe was funny.. bark bark bark-hide behind mom, realized how silly she was acting.. thought, ehhh ok, maybe they're not so bad.. flopped in my lap for pettings, let me pick her up..
Joe and I both absolutley adored mister digger, and Alice was a total sweetheart even though she's rather uncomfortably pregnant at the moment..
